spiritual self defense

Kyoshi Tom Swiss has been following the path of karate-do for over 30 years. He is a fifth-degree black belt, a senior teacher in the World Seido Karate Organization, and a pioneer in bringing the spiritual side of martial arts to the festival world. He is also an NCCAOM Diplomate in Asian Bodywork Therapy with a small private practice in shiatsu, acupressure, and massage therapy, as well as a poet, a singer/songwriter, an amateur philosopher and spiritual explorer, and a professional computer geek.

Tom is a frequent presenter at events like the Starwood Festival and the Free Spirit Gathering, where he speaks not only about martial arts, self-defense, and the healing arts but about his "Zen Pagan Taoist Atheist Discordian" spiritual path. He blogs as "The Zen Pagan" at Patheos and is the author of Why Buddha Touched the Earth (Megalithica Books, 2013). Find out more about his wacky adventures at www.infamous.net.
